Empowering Baltimore City’s Black Artists.
The BAR Mission
Baltimore Arts Resistance or BAR is a non-profit organization working to employ, pay, and promote Black Artists and bring a greater degree of art into Baltimore City’s communities.
We work to empower artists, change makers, cultural activists and thought leaders to make an even deeper positive impact on their communities by creating and fundraising for arts integrated programming, community beautification projects, and youth mentorship programming rooted in the arts.
Black Art Matters
The intersection of activism & art in the black community is a powerful source of healing and empowerment. Black creatives have always invoked the power of music, dance, spoken word, painting, literature and other forms of art as expressions of truth and a means to shine light on the social justice issues faced by the Black community.
